The word Paniola is said to come from the of the word espaniola. The Hawaiian language does not use "s" sound. Vaqueros, Mexican Cowboys, arrived on Maui and the Big Island to teach the locals how to corral. Therefore, this began the culture of the Hawaiian Cowboy.
